Do you want to build your skills and confidence and have fun at the same time with your very own mentor?
If you are (or know) a young person in care, who would like to build a friendship with a trusted adult, we have volunteer mentors ready to help.
Our volunteers are carefully-selected and trained volunteers who want to help by dedicating their time to becoming a trusted, adult friend to young people in care across Tees Valley.
They are matched by us with a young person, based on their profile and interests. They are then given a budget to organise trips out together over the year – usually 2-4 times per month. This could be anything from heading to a football match to taking a walk on the beach and having an ice cream.
They are someone completely outside of the world of social workers, meetings and reviews, who just want to show young people a bit of the world, have fun together and build a friendship. They can really help people head out into the world independently and be that bridge to transition from care to living as an adult in the community.
All volunteer mentors are put through our selection and training programme, and we are with you and them every step of the way with our support team from Changing Futures.
